Before we created Glasgow Blogs, we thought there would be quite a few bloggers as Glasgow is a big city but we never expected to discover as many bloggers as we did!
Blogging is now very powerful, even Mashable redesigned their website which gives it more of a blog look.
So here’s some cool things that happen because of blogs:
People feel less lonely. Everyone talks about how technology can make people feel isolated because now you can order groceries to your house without having to talk to a single person or even step outside. However blogs help people connect, especially those blogs that talk about coping with an illness or talk about someone’s personal life. People want to know that there are others like them out there and thanks to blogging, people can talk and help each other out.

We learn new things. Only through blogs have I learnt how to do the basics in sewing, how to bake a dairy free cake and how to code part of my blog. There’s websites out there that try to teach you but there’s always a lack of pictures or they’re talking complete jargon. Bloggers tend to really want to help others out and I’ve always found that their step by step guides are the best to follow.
Our writing skills improve. Having to think of blog posts and blog titles that are of a good standard can be very tricky at times. However learning to overcome writer’s block is a good tool to have especially if you’re looking into doing blogging as a profession or even going into journalism. Blogging regularly will allow you to develop your own unique writing style.
We get to share a passion! It’s always nice to share similar interests with people and if blogging is your passion then there’s lots of people you can meet online and in person (you’d be surprised at how many blogging meetups exist!).
So as you just read, blogging is great and if you haven’t tried it, you should give it a shot and see if you like it!
Also remember that our next event is on 10th April 2014 and we’d love to see you all, come join us at the Flying Duck. More information can be found here.

I love the sound of a real life blogger network! Is there a facebook group or anything like that to join and to keep up to date with events? I would love to attend some!
